AMD Radeon Software has powerful per-game settings that many players never configure. The defaults balance performance and image quality for general use — but for competitive gaming, you want to push every available advantage. Here are the optimal Radeon settings.

Radeon Anti-Lag

Anti-Lag is AMD's equivalent to NVIDIA's Reflex — it reduces the CPU-GPU render queue to minimize input latency. Enable it in Radeon Software → Gaming → Global Settings → Anti-Lag → Enabled. In supported games, this can reduce input latency by 10–20ms with no FPS cost. Also enable it per-game in the game-specific profiles for maximum effect.

Performance Mode

In Radeon Software → Performance → Tuning, set the Tuning Control to Manual and enable GPU Tuning. For competitive gaming, simply setting the Power Profile to Performance (under the Performance tab) ensures your GPU never downclock s during lighter scenes in games. This is particularly important in CS2 where GPU load varies dramatically between open areas and close-range fights.

FreeSync Configuration

Enable AMD FreeSync in Radeon Software → Display → FreeSync → On. In-game, disable V-Sync but cap your frame rate just below your monitor's maximum. This combination delivers tear-free gameplay without the 1–3 frame latency penalty of traditional V-Sync. FreeSync Premium and FreeSync Premium Pro monitors have lower latency ranges and work more reliably — check your monitor's specification.

Image Sharpening

Enable Radeon Image Sharpening (RIS) at 80% sharpening with 0% de-noising for competitive games. This makes textures and player models appear crisper at a near-zero performance cost. It's especially useful if you play at a reduced resolution for higher FPS — sharpening partially compensates for the resolution reduction.

Shader Cache

In Radeon Software → Preferences → Graphics, ensure Shader Cache is enabled and set to a large size. Shader caches store pre-compiled shaders for games you've played, eliminating compilation stutters on subsequent play sessions. If you're experiencing stutters after a driver update, clear the shader cache and let it rebuild over your next few gaming sessions.
