Apex Legends runs on a modified Source engine that, despite its age, is demanding due to large maps and complex lighting. Getting stable high FPS requires both in-game optimizations and system-level tuning.
Apex Legends Launch Options
In the EA App, click the three dots next to Apex Legends → Properties → Advanced Launch Options:
- +fps_max unlimited — removes the FPS cap
- -novid — skips intro videos
- -high — high process priority
- -fullscreen — forces exclusive fullscreen

Config File Tweaks
Navigate to Documents/Respawn/Apex/local and open videoconfig.txt. Make the file read-only after editing so Apex doesn't overwrite your changes.
