Apex Legends stuttering is especially problematic because the game's fast movement makes even brief freezes highly disruptive. A stutter during a slide can mean the difference between landing in cover or getting eliminated.
EA App Overlay
The EA App overlay is a common culprit for Apex stutters. Disable it in EA App Settings → Application → Enable Origin In Game — toggle it off. The smoothness improvement is often significant.
Shader Pre-Compilation
The modified Source engine in Apex doesn't pre-compile shaders aggressively. First-time encounters with new visual effects cause brief compilation stutters. After any driver update, expect a period of additional stutters while the shader cache rebuilds.

See Services →Windows Process Priority
Set Apex Legends to high priority using the -high launch option. Additionally, reduce the priority of background processes like antivirus updaters in Task Manager by right-clicking and setting them to Below Normal priority.
Memory and Page File
Apex Legends uses 8–12GB of RAM during gameplay. If your system has 8GB total, Windows will use the page file causing severe stutters. Set a manual page file: System Properties → Advanced → Performance → Virtual Memory → set at least 8192MB initial and 16384MB maximum.
