VALORANT stuttering is particularly frustrating because the game is generally lightweight. If it's stuttering on your PC, something specific is causing it. These micro-freezes at critical moments can be more damaging than simply having lower FPS.
Identify the Type of Stutter
Determine when the stutter happens. Map-load stutters that go away after round one are normal shader compilation. Periodic stutters every few seconds suggest background processes or thermal throttling. Random single-frame freezes usually indicate driver issues or RAM instability.
Thermal Throttling
Monitor your temps using MSI Afterburner during gameplay. CPU temperatures above 90°C and GPU temperatures above 85°C indicate throttling. Solutions: reapply thermal paste, clean dust from heatsinks, improve case airflow.

Running RAM in single-channel mode halves your memory bandwidth. Check your motherboard manual for the correct dual-channel slots — typically slots 2 and 4. Also ensure XMP or EXPO is enabled in BIOS so your RAM runs at its rated speed.
Vanguard and Antivirus Conflicts
Ensure your antivirus has VALORANT and the Vanguard folder in its exclusion list. Also add the VALORANT installation folder to Windows Defender's exclusions in Windows Security settings to prevent mid-game file scanning.
